HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone who has read, reviewed, kickstarted, tweeted, reblogged, pinged, smoke signaled, or carrier pigeoned anything and everything I’ve been working on in 2011. I just woke up, and I’m sorry if I leave anyone/anything out. Fuck turkey, you are what I’m thankful for. (NOTE: Intercourse with poultry is not recommended.)
Nick and I (in the form of Nan Bu Nan Books) will be attending the PRINTER’S BALL here in Chicago on July 29th. We’re giving a free copy of every single eBook and eComic currently in our library to anyone who stops by and visits. Bring your smartphone and/or email address. We’re about to invite Chicago to the future of indie print.
Some of my favorite artwork that I’ve ever done is inside a short story called ‘The Price is Wrong,’ which will be available in my new .99 eComic collection HEARTBEASTS in June. I did this story back in 2004, when I was still cutting zip-a-tone manually and applying it directly onto my board. To avoid that laborious/expensive task, I started experimenting with as many ways to make manual gray tones as possible; using different pen/nib/brush combinations to get my values. This story has a lot of that experimentation.
